Many people want to start vlogging as a hobby or as a way to make money, but not everyone knows how to do so. So today you’ll learn the ten-step process for starting a vlog on YouTube. Vlogging is becoming increasingly popular, so why not start your own Vlog today?
How to Start a Vlog: 10 Simple Steps to Success YouTube Vlogger
1. Research for preparation
I would suggest looking at some of your favorite vloggers as a first step. Examine the specifics of their Vlogs several times.
- What about what they’re doing grabs your attention?
- How do they edit their Vlog and what do they record?
- Is there an intro, and if so, how does it look?
- Is there any music playing on the Vlog?
- What is the duration of the videos?
Make a list of what you like and don’t like about each of the videos. This will assist you in determining what to do (and what not to do) in your own vlogs.
Remember that it’s good to be inspired by other Vloggers, but don’t duplicate them verbatim. You’ll have to come up with your own vlogging style.
Define the goal of your channel
The reason you wish to start Vlogging will have a huge impact on how you continue in the future. Perhaps you want to make a living as a professional Vlogger or simply want to share entertaining ideas with viewers all over the world.
If you want to become a professional, you should consider how much time you have to devote to generating videos, as this will decide what you can do with your channel.
What industry do you work in, and what is your specialty?
Determine your industry/niche to assist you to stay focused on your channel’s content. It is preferable if you choose one about which you are extremely enthusiastic.
Who is your channel’s target audience?
Make an attempt to describe your desired audience. It will give you a solid notion of who your YouTube channel’s target audience is.
What are your YouTube Vlogging channel’s short and long-term goals?
You should put out both your short and long-term goals for your YouTube channel in order to create a solid strategy. Consider the type of achievement you wish to accomplish.
2. Establish a YouTube channel
The first thing I recommend is that you set up a free YouTube channel. Here’s where you may start your YouTube channel. This is completely free and takes only a few minutes to set up before you’re ready to go.
Choosing a Name for Your Youtube Channel
Choose a name that sticks out and is unique to pique people’s curiosity when they see your YouTube channel. You might name your business after a specific industry or niche. This can make it easier for folks to find you. After you’ve decided on a name, look it up on YouTube and Google to be sure no one else has already taken it.
You don’t have to choose a name for your Youtube channel right away when you’re setting up your channel. You’ll be given a generic name/number that you can alter as your channel grows in popularity.
3. Tools and equipment
If you don’t have a camera with which to record, starting a Vlog channel is impossible. That is why I recommend that you go find your camera right now. Do you have access to a vlogging camera? Do you have a smartphone with which you can communicate?
Many new vloggers begin by vlogging on their iPhones or other mobile devices. If you have an iPhone and wish to make a recording, go ahead. However, choose your camera carefully because each one has unique features and functionalities that can help you improve the quality of your vlog.
Another thing to consider (if you have the funds) is purchasing a microphone, which will significantly improve the audio quality of your vlog. If you require more lighting, you may want to consider purchasing a tripod. Many YouTubers begin without these last three items, and they are by no means a must for making good videos.
4. Create a video for your vlog.
Now that you have everything you need to record your vlog, it’s time to think about what you want to do in your vlogs in greater detail.
In your vlogs, what will you do and say?
If you’re having trouble coming up with video ideas. Other vloggers and vlogs can provide you with ideas. If you’re having trouble coming up with vlogging ideas, have a peek at our list.
Once you’ve decided on a video topic, you can write a script to help you prepare for it. If you do decide to use a script, try not to read directly from it because the vlogs might get monotonous and uninteresting as you read them.
It could be easier to jot down some of the themes you want to discuss as well as some crucial terms. You won’t be tempted to read from the script, and you’ll still have the essential information to convey to your audience.
5. Go ahead and start filming.
It’s time to start recording now that you’ve set up your YouTube channel and have your camera ready to go. This should not be a stressful moment for you; instead, it should be enjoyable and thrilling.
Here are some pointers on how to film your first Vlog:
- Relax and try not to overthink or plan it too much. When it comes to vlogging, being spontaneous might be advantageous. Start capturing what’s on your mind and share it with the world.
- Make your audio and lighting as nice as possible. In your Vlog, speak clearly and don’t leave any extended silences. To get better image quality, try to film the movie in daylight or with decent interior lighting.
- Interact with your viewers: Vlogging is a fantastic method to connect with your audience on a personal level. Ask them questions and obtain their feedback. Remember to respond to their comments so that they feel included.
- You’ll grow better at vlogging if you do as many as you can, so try to do as many as you can. Delete something if you don’t like it. The more video you have, the more editing options you’ll have.
6. Edit Your Vlog
So you’ve got some video clips for your Vlog now, right? It’s finally time to edit those clips. Final Cut Pro is our preferred editing software at Pro Vlogging, although it is a premium program. If you’re just getting started, I recommend using iMovie (Mac/iPhone) or Lightworks (Windows/Mac/Linux).
Both of these options are adequate for learning and getting started, but for the most professional vlogs, you should seriously consider investing in the more expensive software. There are several options available to you, so pick the best video editing program for your skill level.
7. Publish on YouTube
You’re almost done; now it’s time to post your video to your YouTube channel.
Pick a name for your video.
You may now give your YouTube video a title. Your title must be less than 50 characters long, so think of something memorable and relevant to your vlog. It’s good to have a catchy title, but don’t make the title misleading! Viewers frequently dislike this and express their dissatisfaction by leaving dislikes and bad comments.
If you frequently use deceptive titles, YouTube may suspend your account for violating their terms.
Create or select a thumbnail for your video.
You can either design and upload a thumbnail for your video or select one from a list. Make your thumbnail visually appealing because it will influence whether or not someone will click on your video. People should want to watch your vlogs based on the thumbnail you chose. After uploading your video, you can utilize a still frame from it or make a custom thumbnail.
However, keep in mind that all thumbnails must adhere to YouTube’s criteria. If you don’t follow the criteria, YouTube may remove your ability to upload a custom thumbnail.
Make a video description.
The video description is the final step in the video uploading process. YouTube uses the video description to figure out what your video is about. They can then use their search engine to rank your vlog.
When composing your description, keep it between 300 and 500 words long and attempt to add some keywords (but not too many). However, if done correctly, it can help you rank better and get your movies in front of the proper people.
8. Make an effort to promote
You could stop after your vlog is uploaded to YouTube, but I don’t suggest it. What I enjoy doing is heavily promoting my Vlogs. This translates to:
- I’m sending emails to my supporters.
- Facebook sharing of the video
- I’m sharing the link on Twitter.
- I’m going to post a short video on Instagram and
- Then share it on my other websites.
Your vlog will get a lot more attention if you promote it aggressively, which usually correlates to more views. The more views you can achieve early on in your channel’s life, the faster it will grow. More information on how to promote your vlog and acquire more views can be found here.
9. Vlogging as a Source of Income
Vlogging is entertaining, but don’t you want to be compensated for it? This is where the majority of folks go wrong. First and foremost, don’t believe anyone who tells you that you can’t make money by vlogging. There are a lot of vloggers who make a solid living off of Youtube. The truth is that you can make money through vlogging.
Partner on YouTube
Google Adsense on Youtube is the most common technique to monetize your vlog. You must first be accepted as a Youtube Partner in order to use Google Adsense and be paid for the adverts that appear before and during your video.
To become a Youtube partner, you must meet the following two requirements:
- In the last 12 months, you’ve logged over 4,000 hours of public watch.
- Have a following of over 1,000 people.
Other options for making money from your vlog
Wearing someone’s clothes brand is another option to monetize your Vlog. That person/company will give you a fixed amount of money each month to continue to wear their clothing if you do this. The best part is that you don’t have to mention the brand; all you have to do is show it off in the videos.
Do you have an ebook you’d like to sell? If that’s the case, mention it in your vlog and include a link to it in the description box.
10. Repeat The Vlogging Process
Now that you’ve recorded, edited, and posted one video, it’s time to start over. You already know how to vlog, so all you have to do now is go through the procedure again and again. This is the exciting part since you can now adjust what you learned while doing your first vlog.
Now that you know how to start a vlog, keep in mind that vlogging is supposed to be enjoyable.
